I think Dan Frommer is exactly right with these musings on the intersection of “lifestyle” content, good photography, and ecommerce– even though I’ve been generally skeptical of such things in the past.
Why am I losing my skepticism? I blame OpenSky. I joined so that I could enter a contest, and unexpectedly found myself enjoying the member experience. Their gimmick is that members get access to periodic deals based on which curators(mostly authors, bloggers, cooks, and TV personalities) they choose to follow.
Because I’ve chosen my curators, I’m more likely to be interested in the daily newsletter, more likely to click through for more information (usually some combination of photography, testimonial from the curator, and a video demonstration), and more likely to buy.
And now, I own a Bamboo pot scrubber.
